What this policy covers
This policy explains what information Simpentory collects when you use the service, how we use it, and who we share it with. It applies to simpentory.com and app.simpentory.com. If you have questions, write to us at [email protected].
What we collect
We collect three categories of information:
- Account information Your name, email address, and password when you create an account. If you invite team members, we store their email addresses and the role you assign them.
- Payment information We do not store your credit card number. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive a token from Stripe that identifies your payment method, along with billing details like your name and billing address.
- Usage and activity data We log actions taken inside your account: items added, purchase orders created, and stock adjustments. This data is scoped to your storefronts and is used to power the activity history feature. We also collect basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and debugging.
- Analytics and marketing data When you visit our website, we and our analytics and advertising partners collect information about your device and how you browse: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, links clicked, the site or ad that referred you, and identifiers stored in cookies. We use this to understand how people find and use Simpentory and to show relevant ads on other platforms. You control these cookies through our consent banner. See "Cookies and your choices" below.
How we use it
- To provide the Simpentory service and keep your data available when you log in.
- To process your subscription payments through Stripe.
- To send transactional emails: receipts, password resets, team invitations.
- To respond to support requests.
- To fix bugs and improve the product. We look at aggregate usage patterns, not individual accounts, for this purpose.
- To detect and block abusive or fraudulent behavior.
- To understand how people find us and how the product gets used, so we can make it better.
- To measure and improve our marketing, including showing relevant ads on other platforms (retargeting and remarketing) and seeing whether they work.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do use analytics and advertising cookies that share information with partners like Google so we can target and measure ads. Under California law (the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA), some of that activity counts as "sharing" or a "sale" of personal information, and you can opt out at any time. See "Cookies and your choices" below. Your in-app inventory data is never used for advertising. That stays inside your account.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We use industry-standard practices to protect it: encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all traffic, encrypted passwords (bcrypt), and access controls that limit which systems and people can reach production data.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that affects your data, we will notify you by email within a reasonable time. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
Cookies and your choices
We use a few kinds of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential cookies These keep you logged in and protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). The app does not work without them, so they are always on. They contain no advertising data.
- Analytics cookies These help us see how people find and use the site so we can improve it.
- Advertising cookies These let us and partners like Google show you relevant ads on other sites and measure how those ads perform.
When you first visit, our consent banner lets you accept or reject analytics and advertising cookies. In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, these cookies stay off until you opt in. You can change your choice any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the site footer.
If you are in California or another US state with similar rights, you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information using the same Cookie Settings link. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by some browsers.
Third parties
- Stripe We use Stripe to process subscription payments. When you add a payment method, your card details go directly to Stripe. We receive a reference token and basic billing metadata. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
- Cloudflare The Simpentory marketing site and application run behind Cloudflare for performance and security. Cloudflare sees traffic metadata like IP addresses and request headers as part of this. Their privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Google We use Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Google Tag Manager to measure traffic, understand usage, and run advertising. When you allow analytics or advertising cookies, Google may set cookies and receive data such as your IP address and the pages you view. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Advertising platforms We may use other advertising and analytics services to reach and measure audiences. These partners can set cookies only when you have allowed advertising cookies, and you can turn them off any time through our consent banner.
- Consent management We use a cookie consent tool to show you the consent banner and to record and honor your choices about cookies.
These partners only see data from how you browse our marketing site, and only to the extent you allow through our consent banner. They never receive your in-app inventory data.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything in it. Send requests to [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
California residents. Under the CCPA and CPRA you can ask what personal information we collect and how we use it, ask us to delete or correct it, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for advertising. Use the "Cookie Settings" link in our footer to opt out, and we honor the Global Privacy Control. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, and port your personal data, and to object to processing. Where we rely on your consent, such as for analytics and advertising cookies, you can withdraw it any time using the Cookie Settings link. You can also file a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of the page. For material changes, we will notify active subscribers by email before the change takes effect.
