Who builds Simpentory.

Buying software from a company you've never heard of is a fair thing to hesitate over. So here's the person behind it.

Founder, Simpentory · MosierData

I've been writing software for 40 years, and I run MosierData, a small software company. Simpentory exists because I watched my wife Angie fight her shop's inventory for years, then heard business owners around me describe the same problem in almost the same words.

So I wrote the tool none of them could find. I still write the code, and I'm the one who answers the support email.

Why this exists

Hi, my name is Jim Mosier. I run the software development company MosierData, and I've been writing software for 40 years. Part of the reason this product is named Simpentory is that it was simple inventory management. It was just the need that got me to develop the software.

My wife, Angie — she's in the picture with me — used to own a retail package ship franchise. She was constantly inventorying boxes, trinkets, and locally made merchandise that she kept in stock and sold for vendors. Inventory management presented its own challenge: your POS gets out of sync with your QuickBooks, which gets out of sync with something else. There really was no system that was reliable for the strict inventory portion of it.

Fast forward a few years. Some members of a local business community were expressing frustration that they were having the same problem — they couldn't find software built for smaller operations like theirs. I remembered the frustration of my wife's retail business, and I decided to just write it.

It was simple: everything you need, nothing you don't. It's inventory, so I called it Simpentory.

Ask me something before you buy

If you want to know whether this fits your operation, ask. I'll tell you if it doesn't — there's a list of things it doesn't do on the homepage, and I'd rather point you somewhere else than take a refund in a month.
